20th December 2007 Thursday
Happy holidays...

Today is Hari Raya Haji... So it's public holiday for many people. Enjoy today and wait for Xmas to come.

I just got back from Taipei. Actually not really just. Got back 3 days ago. Was busy doing work at home as I realized sch holidays are ending soon. Panic...

Jus got back frm SK's hse. Went there to do work as there's hse renov upstairs my unit. The drilling and knocking drove me crazy in the morning.

Decided to blog abit abt my trip b4 going to sleep cos if I drag too long, I will sure forget where I went and wat I did there.

Day 1:12 Dec
Supposed to take the 1pm flight but there was an hr delay due to technical fault. Haiz... Wasted time waiting...

B4 we boarded the plane. See my sianz look...

Finally on the plane at 2pm but couldnt really sleep so chat with SK the whole journey.

Reached Taipei around 6 plus in the evening. Took 国光客运 to Taipei Main Station. Should have taken Freego bus (飞狗) as I think it goes directly to the hotel. Anyway, aft we alighted at Taipei Main Station, we took MRT to Ximen Station , then walked along 汉中街. It's just less than 10mins walk to our hotel.

Hotel din really look like a hotel as in chinese it's called 饭店,not 酒店. Though it's quite small, it has everything - hairdryer, fridge, TV, etc...

Put our luggage down and decided to go have dinner at the famour beef noodles shop. It's really not easy to find the shop. As we din read the map (there's one big map inside and outside the mrt), we went the wrong way. Walked half the Chengdu Road then realized we couldnt find Ximen MRT exit 3. So we U-turned and finally managed to find exit 3. Right infront of exit 3 is 衡阳路,walk along it and we saw 远东百货on the right. Walk further down, turn left in to the road 桃园街 between 国防部 and 衡阳办事处. The shop is at 桃园街11巷9号 (this address is given by Junhao's tour guide friend. Thanx to her for planning a super detailed itinerary for us).

After a long walk, we thout we could sit down, rest our feet and enjoy our meal. But the auntie was preparing to close shop when we were ther. However, she's v nice. She gave us a name card and told us the opening hours: Mon-Fri 10am to 9pm, Sat, Sun 10am to 8.30pm. Apparently, the add on the name card is:老王记 牛肉面大王 桃园街15号. It's 15号cos I think they expanded.

We left the shop and agreed to come back the next day morning. We then had to have our dinner at Huaxi St Market, our next destination.

Huaxi St Market is at Longshan Temple MRT Station. Walk towards Guangzhou St. direction after exit, turn left into Guangzhou St. Night Market and walk for around 2 minutes then you will see the Chinese Style Post at the entrance of Huaxi St. Night Market. The Huaxi St. Night Market is located in the Wanhua District.

There were many stalls selling food and other non-food stuff. We walked awhile b4 we decided to eat these:

Front:蛋包饭with 虾仁 , Right: Stir-fried Kang Kong with 三层肉 (i.e pork),

Above: White Raddish Soup, Left:蚵煎

The food was not bad jus that the 蚵煎 tasted abit different from the one we have in SIN. Apparently, the auntie put same kind of sauce for both the 蚵煎 and kang kong. After dinner, we jus walked around the market. Din buy anything though. It was around 11 plus when we got back to hotel.

Time to sleep. Will update the rest next time. Stay tuned...
